Covers your personal belongings inside a rented property against theft, fire, accidental damage, and water leaks.

Tenants insurance (often sold simply as Contents cover) protects your personal belongings inside the property you rent — furniture, electronics, clothing, kitchenware, books, and the everyday possessions that quietly add up to more than most people realise. The landlord's insurance covers the building structure; nothing protects your possessions unless you arrange it yourself.
Vike places tenants cover for everything from a single-room rental to a furnished four-bedroom let. We start with a room-by-room contents check (most clients are surprised that their possessions are worth KES 500K–2M when they actually count) and then layer in all-risks for portable items like laptops and phones that travel with you outside the home.

Fixed sum insured (e.g. KES 500K) covering the standard perils. The cheapest entry point. Suitable for tenants with modest possessions and no high-value items.
Adds cover for accidental damage to your belongings inside the home (dropped TVs, spilt liquids on electronics, broken glassware). Common upgrade for households with children.
Adds 'all risks' worldwide cover for portable items — laptops, phones, cameras, jewellery. Strongly recommended for anyone whose laptop or phone travels with them daily.
Adds cover for accidental damage you cause to the landlord's fixtures and fittings (e.g. burning a kitchen counter, breaking a window). Many leases require this and many tenants don't realise.
Tenants return to find their laptops, TV, and PlayStation stolen after forced entry. Contents cover settles the replacement at new-for-old, less the policy excess. Landlord's insurance would not have covered any of these items.
A burst pipe in the apartment above ruins furniture, electronics, and clothing in the apartment below. Contents cover handles the tenant's belongings (the landlord's policy handles the floor and walls).
All-risks rider covers the loss anywhere in Kenya (or worldwide depending on the wording). Police abstract required for the claim. Without all-risks, theft outside the home is excluded.
All-risks worldwide cover for portable items
Tenants' liability for damage to landlord's property
Increased limit for specific high-value items
Public liability for accidents involving guests
Alternative accommodation following an insured loss
Frozen food cover after extended power outages
